Boothman Girls

I am so incredibly excited about this shoot.

I downright L-O-V-E it when you think of something you want to do. You plot, plan, find the perfect location. And BAM! There it is just as you pictured it. Beautiful and bright yet moody and mysterious. I had originally just asked Kate if I could do a "styled-shoot" with her. Then her lovely sisters Trudy and Annie decided to tag along, and WOW I am so glad they did!

Well here is a little teaser! More to come!

This shoot is lovingly dedicated to some of the most beautiful girls I know, the Boothman Girls!!!

I hope everyone had a fun productive weekend! I am going to finish mine by eating cookie dough ice cream with my man, and doing math homework!

Maybe I'm jumping the gun on the whole Christmas thing... But Starbucks is ready for the holidays so why can't I be?

John is always so hard to shop for, mainly because he rarely really needs or really wants anything. So all year I've been a creepy little secret keeper with a list of things that John mentions that he likes or wants. Bahaha! Ode to the iPhone 'notes'! I spent all morning searching for the best items for my man. Below are my findings!

What do you plan to buy for the man in your life? I will need to figure out what to get my Dad and Father In-Law, they are also difficult to shop for, they never need or want anything! Any good ideas out there?

1// Casio watch, basically I looked up what watches Bear Grylls wears, the answer was Casio. This is not the exact one that Bear wears, but its comparable and less expensive. However If we were big spenders, I would get him this watch.

2// Razor, now this is on the pricier end of gift giving, but this boy has been needing a new razor since we got married!

3// Hat, John hasn't actually said anything about a hat this year, but if you know him then you know he can live without hats. Before we go married John had one had that I stole from him so that I could wash it. I was so afraid I was going to ruin it he loved that hat, even wore it to bed. So I washed it on delicate with special detergent and hang dried it. When I brought it back to him he about had a heart attack. One, he couldn't believe I would risk something so serious, and  two he couldn't believe that the hat was a completely new  color.

4// Wool Sweater, who knew a guy would want something in cashmere and wool? But when John's parents came to visit us for a weekend, we went to hyper spud to look for snow shoes. While there I found a sweater like the one linked. John said that these are the best sweaters for hiking because they are so warm, yet breathable. The patagonia one is on sale, score!

5// Belt, John endlessly wears this one canvas belt that we got just after we got married. Needless to say that belt has been quite loved, and needs a replacement.

6// Knife, I bet you are beginning to see that when I don't know how to pick-out good hiking gear, I turn to Bear Grylls. He may be a crazy man skinny dipping in glacial ice water, but you got to give him props for his excellent survival skills. Being a past SAS, I trust that he knows what he is doing... Or can I....

7// Settlers of Catan, We have been meaning to buy this game for awhile. We have searched all over Pullman but could not find it! As always whatever you can't find, can be found on Amazon!

8// Crocs, John loves his slippers! He used to always wear Sanuks which are great, but the Crocs are less expensive and give more foot support. However as long as its Khaki and cut similar to Sanuk, he'll like it!

The above photos were taken with my iPhone using VSCO CAM. I have been meaning to buy some of there editing software sometime! maybe I can put that on my when I'm a millionaire list.

Caramel Apples

So last night we made the most beautifully delicious caramel apples! It was a great day, John and I listened to  a sermon and unwrapped all the little caramels, then threw them in the crock pot to melt into creamy, buttery caramel goodness. Then around 6:30P evening time about 20 people came over to make caramel apples! We also put out nuts and chocolate to dip the apples in. It was a great night. All the women gathered in the kitchen and talked about babies, recipes and what we were going to buy for Christmas presents. While the men automatically congregated in the living room to discuss sports and fantasy football. I must say I would like to congratulate my self for being able to successfully discuss football. I can actually hold intelligent conversations about may favorite teams, and least favorite (Huskies). I suppose that is what happens when you are a cheerleader for 70% of your life, and married to sports-center.

Probably the last flower we will see for the next 9 months. So long sweet summer. Welcome glistening winter.
I'm going to give this apple as a gift to one of my co-workers who has been workin' crazy!
Some beautiful flowers from the sweet Sarah Ryan!

Sick Day

John and I have been battling colds for the past two weeks! I started getting sick after a 10 day working streak, go figure. Consequently John caught my cold. Yesterday we finally took a sick day. My cold has decided to stay with no signs of getting better. Looks like its time to buy a platform of tissue paper from Costco, I seem to have gone through that many tissues already. Needless to say half marathon training is on hold.

Dayquil, Gatorade, and Sprite. Not pictured is the 3 liters of water I tried to get down my aching throat.
Some spicy chai for comfort and TP for nose blowing. TMI?
 The only edible food around.
Favorite book! I think I will post about this when I am finished, but its basically about God loving us right now! How awesome is that?

Well we are going to have nos amies  at our house tonight to make carmel apples and have fellowship time. I hope you are having a lovely weekend! We are going to continue to enojoy the "great indoors" as it feels like its 4 degrees outside.

The Aasens

This is one of my most favorite little families, the Aasens, Brooke, Phil, and Baby Evelyn. Oh, and you should babes no. 2 is on the way!

This family is particularly special to me because Brooke was my first subject to ever shoot. She was 8 months pregnant at the time. I remember saying "hey, I have a decent camera, you are pregnant, lets to maternity photos! Even if they don't turn out great, I get to practice and you get maternity pictures! its a win win" So we did! I had no idea what I was doing. I kept fiddling with my camera settings, but Brooke a whopping 8 months pregnant was so incredibly patient. I remember she wobbled up a hill so we could get a sunset shot, laid is a small tree for a whimsical frame. We had a blast! I will never ever forget this shoot. It was wonderful.

Here is a pic from that day.

Now here they all are!!
