As humans we have an internal dialogue. The attitudes and intensities of the voices involved in this internal dialogue change every day, sometimes every hour, minute etc. Despite the dynamic nature of this dialogue there are voices that are familiar. For me the voices of condemnation and self-pity are frequent, while their counterparts; confidence and joy are infrequent. Strange enough these dialogues all lead me to the cross of Christ, or they at least should. Condemnation and self-pity remind me that I am incapable and sinful, and therefore in need of the cross of Christ to atone for my sins. While confidence and joy lead me in a satisfied and obedient pursuit of the cross. Indeed these dialogues are interconnected. Condemnation leads me to the cross and the cross leads me to joy.
